EJHS Cross Country competed in their first meet of the season at the Effingham Sports Complex at Effingham High School. Dieterich and Mattoon also competed in the meet, which was the opening weekend of the IESA Cross Country season. Both the girls and boys team of EJHS ran away with the win! The girls were led by 7th grader K. Rohr with a time of 14:43.43, placing 1st for the race! 7th grader B. Bierman placed 2nd overall with a time of 15:29.77 followed by 8th grader A. Schackmann in 3rd place with a time of 15:46.24, 6th grader K. Jones with a time of 16:28.70 came in 5th place and 5th grader L. Lovett placed 7th with a time of 16:43.95 to wrap up the top 5 for the girls. There were 25 total runners. For the boys, 8th grader J. Klingler ran away with the win with a time of 11:31.81, followed by 8th grader M. Wyckoff with a time of 12:45.70 in 2nd place, 8th grader C. Mihlbacher in 6th place with a time of 13:58.92, 8th grader T. Partlow in 7th place with a time of 14:03.74 and 7th grader C. Jolly in 10th place with a time of 14:42.23 to wrap up the boys top 5. There were 48 runners in the meet. Congratulations to the runners of the meet: 5th grader L. Lovett for the girls and 7th grader C. Jolly for the boys.
